Newsletter – April May 2015

I hope you have all enjoyed the Easter break and been able to make the most of the lovely weather. This half terms topic is to be SCIENCE and we are intending to achieve lots of different experiments, which will cover various developments in all areas of the children’s learning. Please see the notice board (on the front door) to see the main activities to be covered each week. Also may I please ask you to bring in 1 x 500ml or 1 litre clear plastic bottle for your child for week 4’s activity, thank you. We have been very pleased with our new circle time routine and have had some good feedback from you (via the parents opinion letters) regarding the children’s preference of the new routine. My I thank all those parents that did respond to this letter and we are delighted by your responses, our intention is to keep up the good work! Our children’s notice board has also worked well and we will be doing a new one for this half term. Colours will be pink, purple, orange and grey, shapes are rectangle, triangle and diamond, numbers 7,8 and 9 and the letters are e,f,g and h. It would be great if you too could re-inforce these at home. We are always interested to know if you do something special with your child/children at home and would love to add any photos or pictures they do into their Journey Books. Please also don’t forget that there is a ‘Home Learning Box’ at the front of the hall for you to borrow things from to do with your child/children at home if you wish. We have book bags in stock @ £5.50 which are great for taking things home in that the children have done at nursery, and very helpful to us at the end of the session when we are trying to sort going home pictures/letters/library books etc, so if you have not go one and would like one please just ask. Nursery t-shirts and sweatshirt are also available. A little while ago we invited parents to come in to talk to the children about their job, run a little activity or read a story. They were a great success so we would like to do the same this half term. If you would like to take part please come and see me to arrange a date and time – it’s not as daunting as you might think! On Friday 1st May our photographer is coming in for the morning to do individual photos of the children, everyone is welcome, she really does take lovely photos. I would also like to be able to take a group photo so would be really grateful if everyone could come about 11.30 to enable this to happen, please let me know if you can. Dates for your diary (next half term) Sports Day and Picnic – Wednesday 1st July End of Year/Leavers Concert – Friday 17th July Both these event will take place in the morning and by giving you this long prior notice hopefully you will be able to organise being with us. More details will follow. Hopefully the good weather will now being staying with us so may I please remind you that we need your written permission to apply sun cream (provided by you) and we do not allow ‘flip-flop’ type footwear at nursery, it is also a good idea to dress your child appropriately for lots of outdoor play – thank you.
